26th Annual Holiday Cookie Bake

The Safeway Clackmas Bread Plant held the annual Holiday Cookie Bake to raise dough (hah, get it?) for Doernbecher Children's Hospital Foundation at Oregon Health & Science University.

Admission was only $35 for the general public, which included 10 pounds of sugar cookie dough, cookie sheets, frosting, one table to roll and cut cookies, use of Safeway's ovens, area to decorate cookies and pictures taken with Santa.

We and our helper, E the elf, along with thousands of excited participants of all ages pushed up our sleeves (aprons in place, of course) and rolled and cut cookies using festive cookie cutters. Our six cookie sheets quickly filled with appropriately 150 cookies, which were promptly delivered to Santa's oven. After an half hour of waiting, we picked up our freshly baked cookies on the cooling racks.

Gotta love the amora of freshly baked cookies in the warehouse!

Recommended Read: Cookie Craft and Cookie Craft Christmas by Valerie Peterson and Janice Fryer. These books are great to pick up for ideas and skills for all year-around cookies.
